Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook founder) posted a video of an island girl named “Riza Mae Tachado” of Malalison Island in Culasi, Antique. Mark got amazed by how Riza broke barriers and improved herself by going to school then eventually graduated with a Computer Science degree, with the help of free Internet access.
In their small island, the only job for women is to collect seashells but Riza wants something greater for herself. She took Computer Science in town, taking risky boat rides daily just to go to school. By the time she and her classmates are working for their thesis, a strong typhoon hit their island and she got stranded in their place for weeks. She used her mobile phone to connect with her classmates and took advantage of the free Internet access to continue to work for their thesis even she’s stranded in their island.
